Barraba is a lovely little country town filled with character and friendly people. It has a wide variety of community services and groups, businesses, agriculture, sports, and is very proud of it’s history.

Barraba is situated in the beautiful heart of the Nandewar Ranges, with the extinct volcanic area of Mount Kaputar to the west, and the geological diversity of the Peel Fault near Woodsreef to the east.

The town lies on the Manilla River, 550km north west of Sydney on the Fossickers Way. The people of Barraba take pride in their community, and welcome visitors to explore the hospitality of a small country town.

Barraba has an airstrip 1.6 kms South West of town. Existing effective length 3000 feet. Bearings 20 degrees 30 minutes West of North.

Barraba is a rich beef area with many top class cattle studs in the district. Barraba is surrounded by National Parks which offer many activities for you to do while you are here, including bushwalking, bird watching, fishing, camping and fossicking.

Barraba offers a variety of sporting activities including Rugby, League, Netball, Tennis, swimming, Pony Club, cricket and football. Campdrafting is also a popular sport in the area with many campdrafts held in the local district throughout the year.

The Playhouse Hotel is arguably our cultural centre, hosting a variety of live music and theatre, movies, conferences and celebrations. The Fuller Gallery, run by the Barraba Potters and Craft Guild provides an opportunity for local artists to display their wares and share their skills and knowledge.

Barraba is located 90 kilometres (55 miles) or 1 hour north of Tamworth, New South Wales.
